The first pattern from the Hidden in the Stitches Mystery Crochet-Along series
We did it!
After four weeks, 32 rows, six colors, and a whole lot of guessing, our very first Hidden in the Stitches Mystery Crochet-Along is officially complete! You’ve already seen every part of the graph and discovered what was hiding in those stitches.
But there’s one thing I haven’t properly introduced yet…The pattern has a name!
Meet Something Witchy This Way Comes!

Our first Hidden in the Stitches mystery! For four weeks, this little design was chopped into pieces and hidden eight rows at a time. Now I can finally show you what my completed version looks like all together! Now that the mystery is solved, the finished piece has made her debut, and the pattern finally has a proper name, there’s only one thing left to do…Release the whole pattern!
Something Witchy This Way Comes! is a 32 × 32 pixel tapestry crochet pattern originally created for the first Hidden in the Stitches Mystery Crochet-Along.
During the CAL, the graph was divided into four sections:
Week 1: Rows 1–8
Week 2: Rows 9–16
Week 3: Rows 17–24
Week 4: Rows 25–32
That was perfect while we were trying to keep the design a mystery. Now? No more secrets. You can find the entire graph right here in one place!
I’ve created two versions of the complete chart so you can choose whichever one is easiest for you to follow.
Full-Color Graph
If you’re a visual crocheter like me, this will probably be the version you reach for first. The full color graph lets you see all six colors exactly where they appear in the design.

Black-and-White Symbol Graph
I also created a complete black-and-white version with symbols to help distinguish between the different colors. (This is printer friendly)

Use whichever version makes your crochet brain happiest.
Materials:
Yarn- I Love This Yarn
- Black
- Grape
- Periwinkle
- Limelight
- Yellow
- Stonewash
Hook- 4.5 mm crochet hook
Of course, you don’t have to use my exact colors. Swap them around, raid your yarn stash, make the potion pink, or turn the whole thing into a pastel fever dream.
Reading the Graph
This pattern is worked using tapestry crochet. Each square on the graph represents one stitch, and the design is worked back and forth in rows. When working from the graph, follow the chart one row at a time and alternate the direction you read each row as you turn your work. Take your time with those color changes and keep an eye on your stitch count. Pixel art is very good at tattling when a stitch disappears somewhere.
Prefer Ribblr?
I’ve also uploaded the complete pattern to Ribblr for free! So if you’d rather save the pattern to your Ribblr library and work from there, you can!

Whether you use the graphs here on the blog or grab the Ribblr version, the pattern is completely free.
If you missed the CAL and want to see how everything unfolded, you can still go back through all four weeks:
Or, if you somehow managed to arrive on this page without looking too closely at the giant finished-project photo at the top…Well, you could always start at Week 1 and pretend you saw nothing. I won’t tell.
Show Me Yours!
One of the things I’ve been most excited about throughout this CAL is seeing how everyone else’s version turns out. Especially now that you have the complete graph, please show me what you make! Use my original colors or completely change them. Turn your finished tapestry into a wall hanging, bag, pillow, patch, or something I haven’t even thought of. I want to see it!
And if you crocheted along with me from Week 1, thank you for trusting the process when I handed you eight rows of pixels and essentially said, “Don’t worry about it. Just keep crocheting.”
This Isn’t the Last Mystery…
When I started Hidden in the Stitches, I wanted to take the fun of a mystery crochet-along and bring it into the kind of crochet I already love doing. Tapestry crochet, pixel art, lots of color changes, and apparently keeping secrets from crocheters for four weeks at a time. I had so much fun putting this first one together that I don’t want Hidden in the Stitches to be a one-time thing. There are plenty more pictures that could be hiding inside those little squares. So keep your hooks nearby. One day you might find yourself staring at another eight rows of seemingly random pixels and wondering…What in the world is hiding in the stitches this time?
Until the next mystery,
Happy stitching!
